Taking it to the mainland

Jenkin A-lign is now on sale in the South Island and the first A-lign homes are now being completed. We’re biased, but we think nothing looks better in those Southern landscapes than a stylish timber home, like the one built by Aorangi Homes at Albury near Timaru.

TIMARU – “Our client wanted a solid timber weatherboard home,” Aorangi Homes’ Jeff Wright says. It was a while since Jeff had built with timber weatherboards, so he went off to talk to the team at PlaceMakers Timaru.

“They gave me information on Jenkin A-lign and I could see it had all the same components as the fibre cement cladding system I’d been using.”

Jeff discussed A-lign with the client who liked what she saw and the plans were developed.

The build is now nearing completion and Jeff and client are both very happy with their choice.

“It was a lot cleaner to work with than fibre cement. I think it holds a straighter line, and because you nail it, you don’t have any gappiness underneath.”

The long lengths meant minimal joining, and being able to order the lengths to suit each wall meant minimal wastage Jeff says.

“It was also really easy to work with. You don’t need a special sawblade, and you can do a more accurate job if you are cutting a mitre for example. I think you get a better finish overall than a traditional craftsman builder would have achieved in the past.”

“If I had a preference in future, I’d recommend A-lign to clients. I really enjoyed working with it.”
